JONESBORO, Ark. (6/17/24) – Arkansas State women’s basketball head coach Destinee Rogers announced Monday the promotion of Rudy Evans to associate head coach.
Evans joined the program as an assistant coach ahead of the 2023-24 season after spending two seasons at Marshall. He served as the director of basketball operations for the Thundering Herd before being elevated to assistant coach and recruiting coordinator in 2022-23.
“I just want to thank Coach Dezz and the staff for their support and allowing me to grow,” Coach Evans said. “I believe in the work we are putting in and the environment we are creating for the program. The best is yet to come!”
The Red Wolves ranked second in the Sun Belt and 63rd in the nation for turnovers, and placed fifth in the conference for scoring defense.
“Rudy is an absolute star in his role,” Coach Rogers said. “I am so blessed to have him on staff. He is a great ambassador for the university and I couldn’t be more happy to elevate him.”
Evans will serve as the associate head coach for A-State alongside Lizzie Nessling, who joined the program before the 2020-21 campaign and was elevated to the same position in 2022-23.
