JONESBORO, Ark. (2/22/25) – An offensive outburst that saw four players score in double figures led the Arkansas State men’s basketball team to its 20th win of the season, routing ULM 95-70 on Senior Day inside First National Bank Arena.
A-State (20-9, 11-5) has achieved 20 wins in back-to-back seasons for just the second time in school history and the first time since 1989 and won its 13th home game for the most home wins since 13 in the 2012-13 season.
The Red Wolves shot 55.1 percent (38-69) on the day against the Warhawks (7-22, 3-13), connecting on 15 attempts from 3-point range. A-State had 26 assists on the day on its 38 made baskets and forced 13 turnovers – 11 via steal.
Dyondre Dominguez led the Scarlet and Black with 20 points on 17 minutes off the bench, matching his career high with four made treys. Izaiyah Nelson recorded his third consecutive double-double with 18 points and 10 boards, while Derrian Ford and Taryn Todd each had 14 points. Dominguez and Ford combined for 34 of A-State’s 42 bench points.
ULM shot 42.6 percent (26-61) for the contest and went 8-for-15 (.533) from deep. Makai Willis had a game-high 21 points, while Jalen Bolden and Coltie Young scored 16 and 14, respectively.
A-State struck first, taking a 7-2 lead within the first four minutes following a Dominguez trey – three of his 20 first-half points. After the Warhawks took a 13-11 lead at the 12:09 mark on a three by Young, the Red Wolves held the visitors without a field goal for nearly five minutes to surge out to a 28-17 lead. ULM pulled back within nine, but Dominguez hit back-to-back threes to spark a 17-5 run to end the half, giving the Scarlet and Black a commanding 50-29 lead at the break.
The Red Wolves kept the foot on the gas in the second half, maintaining a 20-plus point advantage until a three by Young cut it to 17 with 12:26 to go. Terrance Ford Jr. (6 points, 6 assists) then sparked a 13-2 run to put the count at 79-51 with under 9 minutes to play. A-State’s largest lead of the day came at the 4:43 mark when Joseph Pinion drilled one of his two second-half treys, putting the lead at 33 (93-60).
