NASHVILLE, Tenn./BOSTON, Mass. (2/15/25) – Arkansas State track and field saw 15 career-best marks on Saturday at the Music City Challenge as well as the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
In Nashville at the Music City Challenge, Chris Boyd won the men’s shot put and rocketed up to fourth in the program’s top 10, throwing 18.08m (59-4). Menachem Chen was fifth with a throw of 16.74m (54-11.25). In the invite section, Willem Coertzen placed fifth with a mark of 18.09m (59-4.25).
In the women’s shot put, Selase Sampram placed eighth, throwing 15.90m (52-2).
Will Glass finished second in the men’s 60-meter hurdles final, running 7.87. In the prelims, Kenyon Parker (8.03) and Josh Jones (8.05) ran season bests, but finished ninth and 10th in qualifying.
Kiara Strayhorn and Tyra Nabors reached the semifinals of the women’s 60-meter hurdles, finishing 11th and 16th, respectively, with times of 8.46 and 8.62.
Reneisha Andrews reached the semifinal round of the women’s 60 meters, finishing ninth with a time of 7.50. Keniya Simpson ran 7.77, and AJ Allen finished in 7.97, while Nyla Watson ran a collegiate-best 8.05. In the men’s prelims, Malik Hall led a quartet with a time of 6.92 (27th). Jourdan Clements ran a collegiate-best 6.95 (33rd), while CJ Burge clocked a career-best 7.00 (42nd). Sebastian Mejia rounded out the group, finishing 58th with a time of 7.27.
In the women’s mile, Malena Cybak clocked a time of 2:15.17 to place 14th and move to 10th in program history in the event, while Abbey Coberly placed 27th with a career-best mark of 2:18.57. Gabe Falting was 30th in the men’s 800, finishing in 1:56.45.
All three Red Wolves posted career-best times in the women’s 400 meters, as Jada Buggs (57.20) led the way in 12th. Je’Breiya Chapman (30th, 58.43) and Olivia Dixon (31st, 58.53) followed Buggs.
Both Devyn O’Daniel (10:23.45) and Lizzee Winkler (10:29.83) posted personal-best times in the women’s 3000 meters. In the men’s race, Benny Brenneman finished 30th with a time of 8:44.55, while Reid Gulstrom ran a collegiate-best 8:53.92 and finished 37th. Ian Horton was 42nd, crossing in 9:13.05.
In Boston, four distance runners recorded career-best times. Maja Dzialoszewska ran a career-best 5:01.68 in the women’s mile, while Olivia Walter had a collegiate-best time of 17:03.57 in the 5000 meters. Sammy Mason and Maddie Haldiman also had personal bests, doing so in the 3000 meters with times of 9:38.72 and 9:56.61, respectively.

Arkansas State returns to action Monday, Feb. 24, with the first of two days at the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships, held inside the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Alabama. Both days of competition will be carried on ESPN+.
