    WALNUT, Calif./Ruston, La. (4/19/25) – Arkansas State track and field athletes combined for 18 collegiate-best marks and four event titles on Saturday, concluding the week’s competition at the Mt. SAC Relays and Jim Mize Invitational.

    At the Mt. SAC Relays, Carly Pujol matched her program record in the women’s pole vault, clearing 4.30m (14-1.25) and tying for second. In the men’s pole vault, Bradley Jelmert tied for fourth with a clearance of 5.30m (17-4.5).

    In the women’s long jump at the Jim Mize Invitational in Ruston, La., Kiara Strayhorn won the event with a jump of 6.11m (20-0.5) that ranks sixth in program history and third in the Sun Belt this season. Madison Holloway jumped a season-best 5.70m (18-8.5) in her sixth-place finish, while Brandi Echols placed 10th (5.45m/17-10.75) and Nyima Williamson was 11th (5.28m/17-4).

    Aviel Gasko won the men’s 3000 meters, running 8:58.36. In the women’s 3K, Ivanna Hargis and Sophey Pope placed second and third with times of 10:51.59 and 10:55.35 – a career best for Pope.

    Abbey Coberly won the women’s 1500 meters, leading three runners with career-best times with a time of 4:41.66. Nika Gividen (4:53.58) placed seventh and Abigail Tomberlin was ninth (4:55.05). Gabe Falting finished second in the men’s 1500 meters with a personal-best time of 4:00.86.

    Michelle Ogbemudia threw a personal-best 16.40m (53-9.75) in the women’s shot put to win the event.

    Josh Jones ran 52.36 in a runner-up finish in the 400-meter hurdles. Jones also placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a wind-aided mark of 14.05. Alden Wetzel clocked a time of 15.79, placing 15th. Wetzel later placed fifth in the men’s discus, hurling a collegiate-best 42.69m (140-0).

    In the women’s 4×100-meter relay, A-State finished second with a mark of 47.19.

    Izzy Daines ran in the 100-meter hurdles, running a collegiate-best 14.45 to place seventh.

    In the men’s 400 meters, Spencer Taylor ran a career-best 47.22, placing third, while Jeremiah Green finished 16th (50.22).

    Matthew Williams placed fourth in the long jump, leaping a season-best 7.19m (23-7.25), and in the triple jump with a career-best mark of 14.48m (47-6.25).

    John Harrick was fourth in the men’s javelin, throwing the implement 46.53m (152-8) for a collegiate best.

    Camren Bailey was fourth in the men’s 100 meters with a career-best 10.33, while Christopher Burge ran a season-best 10.78 to place 18th. Jourdan Clements followed shortly behind in 23rd, running a collegiate-best 10.84. In the men’s 200, Burge led three runners in 22nd with a wind-aided 21.89. Mehki Hoo was 25th (22.16) and Wetzel placed 30th (22.51).

    In the women’s 200 meters, Keniya Simpson (personal-best 24.77) and Jada Buggs (24.84w) placed sixth and seventh. Je’Breiya Chapman ran a career-best 25.21 to place 13th, and Daines was 21st (26.52). Simpson also ran a career-best 12.01 to place 10th in the 100 meters, and Hanyla Milligan ran a collegiate-best 12.37 to place 18th. Nyla Watson was 22nd, crossing in 12.56.  

    Gavin Schaer placed seventh in the men’s high jump, clearing 1.85m (6-0.75).

    The Red Wolves return home to host the second-annual Alumni Classic, set for Friday and Saturday, April 25-26, at the A-State Track and Field Complex.
