BOSTON, Mass./NASHVILLE, Tenn./BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (2/14/25) – Jacob Pyeatt shattered his own school record in the 5000 meters Friday to highlight competition for the Arkansas State track and field teams.
Pyeatt finished in 13:38.63 at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston, placing 30th in a field that also included a new indoor world record holder in Olympian Grant Fisher. His program record bests his previous school-record mark by nearly 17 seconds.
Freshman Brett Jacobs moved to ninth in school history in the mile, running 4:10.56, ahead of Avinash Patel’s collegiate-best time of 4:14.35.
Nati Enright moved up to ninth all-time in the 3000 meters, finishing in 8:20.19, while Evan Stevens crossed in 8:23.79.
Kamil Przybyla and Brandon Williams ran in the men’s 800 meters, with Przybyla running 1:53.30 and Williams clocking an indoor-best 1:53.39.
In the men’s weight throw at the Music City Challenge, Chris Boyd threw a career-best 16.04m (52-7.5) to place 16th, with Menachem Chen throwing 15.45m (50-8.25) to place 20th. Noa Isaia competed in the invitational section, placing eighth with a mark of 19.58m (64-3).
Jaivion Jenkins leaped 6.11m (20-0.5) in the men’s long jump, placing 15th. Nyima Williamson jumped 5.22m (17-1.5) in the women’s long jump invitational section. Me’Kiyah Earnest competed in the open section, jumping 5.19m (17-0.5).
In the women’s mile, Abbey Coberly (5:03.28) and Lizzee Winkler (5:08.04) ran career-best times, while Mary Beth Bailey finished in 5:06.47. Gabe Falting also clocked a collegiate-best time in the men’s mile, finishing in 4:21.20.
A trio of Red Wolves recorded career-best marks in the women’s 200 meters. Keniya Simpson finished in 25.41, while Jada Buggs and Je’Breiya Chapman finished in 25.54 and 25.83, respectively. Josh Jones ran a career best in the men’s 200, running 22.67. Kenyon Parker (22.17) and CJ Burge (22.77) also competed in the event.
Zeke McCain capped the first of two days in Nashville with a 53rd-place finish in the men’s 5000 meters, crossing in 15:49.83.
At the Bulldog Invitational in Birmingham, Carly Pujol won the women’s pole vault – her second event title in three weeks – with a clearance of 4.07m (13-4.25). Kaci Andrus tied for fourth (3.67m/12-0.5) and McKenna Hall was 15th (3.22m/10-6.75).
Colby Eddowes captured the top spot in the men’s 60-meter hurdles final, running 7.95 after a prelims mark of 7.93. Eddowes also finished 12th in the 60-meter prelims, running 7.07.
Miranda Burgett jumped 5.54m (18-2.25) to place second in the women’s long jump. Burgett also clocked a career-best 8.99 in the 60-meter hurdles prelims, finishing 10th. In the shot put, Burgett threw 10.86m (35-7.75).
Jacob Dorrell led four pole vaulters, clearing 4.97m (16-3.5) to place fifth. Gavin Schaer and Brandon Love tied for eighth with a mark of 4.67m (15-3.75), while Eddowes vaulted 4.37m (14-4.0).
In the women’s high jump, Ashley Guadamuz was sixth with an indoor-best mark of 1.56m (5-1.25).
A-State continues action in Boston and Nashville on Saturday. Day two of the Music City Challenge will be streamed live on SEC Network+, while FloTrack will carry the women’s events from Boston with a subscription required.
