JONESBORO, Ark. (4/2/25) – Arkansas State’s Jacob Pyeatt and Bradley Jelmert were named this week’s Sun Belt Conference Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.
Pyeatt was named the Men’s Track Athlete of the Week after shattering his own program record in the men’s 5000 meters. The Mountain Home, Ark., native recorded a time of 13:35.90 to notch a 12th-place finish at the Raleigh Relays – a race that produced the top 30 5000-meter times this season entering this week.
His time bested the previous school record by over 30 seconds and also leads the conference this season by nearly 33 seconds. It also ranks first in the West Region and is eighth in the NCAA.
Jelmert won the university elite section of the men’s pole vault at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, clearing an NCAA-leading 5.55m (18-2.5). He leads the Sun Belt by over a foot and paces A-State’s men’s pole vault quartet that ranks seventh nationally in this week’s Event Squad rankings released by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
