HARAHAN, La. (3/22/25) – The Arkansas State women’s bowling team run at the Conference USA Championship ended Saturday morning as No. 5 Wichita State eliminated the Red Wolves 2-0 in the mega-match format.
Wichita State grabbed a 1-0 lead taking the traditional game 1,073-959. Kaylee Back led the Red Wolves with a game of 230 while Saraylne Nassberg totaled 213. Maggie Thoma (178), Karli VanDuinen (175) and Malaya Chavez (163) rounded out the individual bowlers in traditional game.
The Shockers grabbed a 45-pin lead, 215-170, in game one of the Baker 5-game total pinfall portion and the Red Wolves were unable to recover. The deficit swelled to 99 pins after a 278-224 tally in game two and game three went to the Shockers 221-181 putting A-State behind by 129 pins entering the final two games. Wichita State took game four by 16 pins, 190-174, before the Red Wolves took the final game 210-199 to set the final margin of 1,103-959.
Qualifiers for the NCAA Championship will be announced at the National Collegiate Bowling Selection Show Wednesday at 3 p.m. (CT) on NCAA.com.
