PALM CITY, Fla. (2/9/25) – Opening the spring portion of its 2024-25 schedule, the Arkansas State women’s golf team shot 4-over par 292 and stands third among 18 teams at the UNC Greensboro Invitational at Hammock Creek Golf Club.
Ashley Kim paced the Red Wolves with a 1-under par 71, her 11th par or better round this season which ranks third-most in a single season. Kim had three birdies and a pair of bogeys on the round to tie for seventh individually. Inserted into the lineup for the first time this season, freshman Caroline Hughes is 12th after an even-par 72. Madison Tenore turned in a 2-over par 74 to rank 26th while Olivia Coit was 3-over par 75 to rank 32nd. Anne-Lea Lavoie shot 5-over par 77 to tie for 57th and Shannon Berry is 96th at 16-over.
Virginia Tech leads the field at 13-under par 275 following the first round. East Tennessee (+3) was one stroke better than A-State with Morehead State (+5), Memphis (+8) and UNCG (+8) rounding out the top five. Jacksonville State (+11), App State (+12), Merrimack (+13), Elon (+15), Little Rock (+16), Southern Illinois (+16), Ohio (+17), Georgia State (+18), Towson (+19), Lipscomb (+23), Bucknell (+29) and Bryant (+66) round out the field.
