JONESBORO, Ark. (4/27/24) – Arkansas State baseball (19-24-1, 6-14-1 SBC) was unable to get the bats rolling in a 10-0 defeat against Texas State (22-23, 8-13 SBC) on Saturday afternoon at Tomlinson Stadium.

Dylan Heine (2-1) made his team-leading 11th start of the season, surrendering three runs on five hits and three walks over 3.1 innings pitched. Cade Tucker had the only multi-hit performance for A-State, finishing 2-for-3 at the plate.

Texas State struck first in the opening frame when Aaron Lugo fired an RBI-single up the middle. The score would remain 1-0 until the fourth, where the Bobcats blew the game open.

An RBI-groundout for Alec Patino was followed with a two-run single and three RBI-knocks. Daylan Pena drove in another run on a sacrifice fly before Davis Powell capped off an eight-run inning with an RBI-triple.

The score remained 9-0 until the sixth inning when Pena recorded another sacrifice fly to put A-State in danger of being run ruled. The Red Wolves put multiple runners on base, but none would score as the rule went into effect.

Drayton Brown (1-3) earned the win while Heine took his first loss of the season.
