JONESBORO, Ark. (4/24/25) – After a long track and field season away from home, all eyes descend upon Arkansas State’s track and field complex Friday and Saturday for the second annual Alumni Classic.
Competition begins at 3 p.m. Friday with the women’s hammer throw, while the first event on the track is slated for 5 p.m. with the 200 meters. On Saturday, the 5000 meters is set to begin the day at 9:30 a.m., with the first field event – the women’s shot put – set for 10:30 a.m.

1. CONFERENCE LEADERS: Arkansas State leads the Sun Belt this season in multiple events, listed below.
MEN
5000 meters: Jacob Pyeatt – 13:35.90 (#24 West, #38 NCAA)
10,000 meters: Jacob Pyeatt – 28:28.50 (#43 West)
110m Hurdles: Colby Eddowes – 13.58 (#12 West, #19 NCAA)
Pole Vault: Bradley Jelmert – 5.55m/18-2.5 (#4 West, #4 NCAA)
Hammer: Noa Isaia – 62.54m/205-2 (#40 West)
Decathlon: Colby Eddowes – 7,681 points (#7 NCAA)
WOMEN
Pole Vault: Carly Pujol – 4.30m/14-1.25 (#15 West, #25 NCAA)
2. REGIONAL STANDINGS: Arkansas State has 13 athletes currently in position to qualify for the NCAA West Regionals (May 28-31 in College Station), ranking among the top 48 in their event. A-State’s men have 10 athletes among the top 48 in at least one event. Bradley Jelmert enters the week fourth in the pole vault, while Colby Eddowes is 12th in the 110-meter hurdles in addition to being seventh nationally in the decathlon – an event which takes the top 24 declared athletes nationally. Also in the 110-meter hurdles, Will Glass ranks 47th. Jacob Pyeatt is 24th in the 5000 meters and 43rd in the 10,000 meters. Menachem Chen ranks 35th in the shot put and 38th in discus, while Chris Boyd is 43rd in the shot put. Josh Jones is 43rd in the 400-meter hurdles, with Noa Isaia currently 40th in the hammer throw. In the 100 meters, Camren Bailey is 40th and Javarian Otey is 44th. On the women’s side, Carly Pujol is 15th in the pole vault while Michelle Ogbemudia is 18th in the shot put and Kiara Strayhorn sits 46th in the long jump.
3. EDDOWES NAMED ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: After breaking his own school and conference records in the decathlon last week at the Mt. SAC Relays, Colby Eddowes earned Sun Belt Conference Men’s Field Athlete of the Week honors on Wednesday. His score of 7,681 leads the league, ranks seventh in the NCAA and is tops among all Australians this season.
