JONESBORO, Ark. (5/2/24) – Arkansas State men’s basketball head coach Bryan Hodgson announced Thursday the signing of Justin Johnson to the 2024-25 roster.
Johnson joins the Red Wolves after spending the previous season at Putnam Science Academy in Putnam, Connecticut – one of the nation’s top prep programs. The Miami, Fla., native was named the Power 5AAA Player of the Year and averaged 15.6 points, 2.2 assists and 1.6 steals while helping lead the Mustangs to a national prep runner-up finish this past season.
“We are really excited to finalize our roster with the addition of Justin,” Hodgson said. “At 6’8″, Justin brings size and versatility at the guard spot that is hard to find at this level. He had an outstanding year at Putnam Science Academy, and proved to be one of the best guards in all of high school basketball. Justin and his family will be a great addition to Arkansas State and Red Wolves Basketball.”
Johnson scored 20-plus 10 times in 2023-24 for PSA and led the team to a Power 5AAA and New England Basketball League titles, while earning NEBL First Team All-Conference honors.
A 3-star prospect by 247 Sports, Johnson is rated as one of the top players in the state of Florida and a top-200 recruit nationally.
