JONESBORO, Ark. (4/1/25) – Arkansas State baseball (13-15, 4-5 SBC) had a chance to complete the comeback against Central Arkansas (10-17, 4-5 ASUN), but fell short in a 3-2 defeat on Tuesday night at Tomlinson Stadium-Slayton Family Field.
Kole Turner (1-2) made his second start of the season, surrendering two runs (both earned) on four hits while striking out two over 3.0 innings pitched. Ashton Quiller led the bats with a 4-for-4 performance and accounted for both runs scored.
Two quiet innings led to an active third, with the Bears scoring two runs off a single and double in the top frame. The Red Wolves immediately responded in the same inning, scoring one run on a sacrifice fly from Patrick Engskov.
Central Arkansas extended the deficit back to two runs with a double to right center in the fourth, claiming a 3-1 advantage.
The Scarlet and Black began to build momentum in the seventh when Cross Jumper fired a shot through the left side for an RBI-single. In the ninth, A-State had the tying run on third and the winning run on second with the bases loaded in a one-out situation, but a 6-4-3 double play ended all hopes of a comeback victory.
