    MOBILE, Ala. (4/19/25) – Arkansas State women’s tennis dropped a 4-0 decision at 75th-ranked South Alabama Saturday to conclude the regular season.

    A-State (12-10, 5-6 SBC) dropped a tough doubles point to the Jaguars (14-5, 7-3), who claimed three straight-set singles wins to clinch the match.

    In doubles, Lilly Cvanciger and Abigail Thurmer fell in a 6-1 decision on Court 2 to Chems Doha Zeghlouli and Kanza Elakili, and then Hanmare McAslin and Sarah Millard dropped a 6-4 outcome to Jaguar duo Lara van der Merwe and Manal Ennaciri on Court 3.

    USA made it 2-0 when van der Merwe won 6-4, 6-2 against Ariadna Fernandez at the No. 6 position. The score was upped to 3-0 on Court 2, as Rio Maeda won 6-3, 6-4 over A-State’s Carla Muro Castellvi. The hosts clinched the match on Court 1, as Delien Kleinhans won 6-4, 6-4 versus Anna Grigoreva.

    At the time the match was clinched, McAslin had forced a third set on Court 5, while Cvanciger and Loles Carbo Chova were locked in tight second-set matches.

    The Red Wolves now turn their attention to the Sun Belt Conference Championships, beginning Thursday at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Ga.
