PHOENIX, Ariz. (3/12/25) – Led by three players collecting a top 25 individual finish, the Arkansas State men’s golf team completed play Wednesday at the Grand Canyon Invitational in sixth place among 18 teams after recording a combined 862 for the tournament played at GCU Golf Course.
A-State, which shot a final-round 286, finished only one stroke behind fifth-place Cal State Fullerton. Host Grand Canyon led the field with a total of 840 (-12) with New Mexico State (+1), Pacific (+2) and Drake (+3) rounding out the top four.
Thomas Schmidt led the Red Wolves with a tied for sixth place finish, collecting his second top 10 of the season. Schmidt recorded a combined 2-under 211 (74-67-70). Jack Maxey placed tied for 18th, his third top 20 finish of the season, posting a 2-over 215 (67-76-72). Jake Wallis tied for 24th to complete the trio of Red Wolves in the top 25 with his total of 3-over 216 (74-70-72). Jake Lile (75-76-72) and Milan Reed (76-73-74) tied for 60th. Playing as an individual, Cole Kirby tied for 51st with a total of 221.
Finishing inside the top 10 teams in all six tournaments thus far, the Red Wolves continue the season March 23-25 at Torrey Pines for the UC San Diego Invitational.
