    CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (1/25/25) – A pair of Arkansas State track and field athletes won their respective events on Saturday to complete the Fighting Illini Challenge inside the UI Armory.

    Camren Bailey ran a season-best 6.81 to win the men’s 60 meters, while Kiara Strayhorn won the women’s high jump, clearing 1.65m (5-5). Will Glass finished fifth behind Bailey in the 60-meter final with a time of 7.06.

    Behind runner-up Willem Coertzen (18.34m/60-2), two Red Wolves upped their standing in the program’s top 10 in the men’s shot put, as Menachem Chen threw 17.56m (57-7.5) in his fourth-place finish – a mark that is fifth in school history. Chris Boyd was fifth with a throw of 17.19m (56-4.75), putting him at ninth all-time.

    Michelle Ogbemudia placed second in the women’s shot put with a toss of 13.88m (45-6.5) while Liya Guy came in seventh, throwing 11.59m (39-0.25).

    Bradley Jelmert placed second in the men’s pole vault with a mark of 5.43m (17-9.75). Jacob Dorrell and John Carswell both cleared a season-best 4.98m (16-4.0), placing fifth and sixth.

    Me’Kiyah Earnest finished second in the women’s triple jump, recording a mark of 10.95m (35-11.25). In the men’s triple jump, Matthew Williams came in eighth with a mark of 13.29m (43-7.25).

    Josh Jones placed fourth in the men’s 60-meter hurdles, running 8.16, while Kenyon Parker clocked a season-best time of 8.22 in his fifth-place result.

    NEXT UP

    The Red Wolves return to action in a pair of meets next week. Some athletes will head to Louisville, Ky., for the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational while others will compete in Texas Tech’s Stan Scott Invitational in Lubbock, Texas.
