JONESBORO, Ark. (1/22/25) – After a 3-1 week at the top doubles and singles position for Arkansas State, sophomore Anna Grigoreva was named the Sun Belt Conference women’s tennis Player of the Week Wednesday.
Grigoreva did not lost a set in singles play, defeating Missouri State’s Tuana Gunal 6-4, 6-4 on Friday before routing Anaelle Leclercq of Ole Miss 6-2, 6-2 Sunday. The Kazan, Russia, native has won three matches in a row and stands 4-1 in dual-match singles play. She is A-State’s first conference Player of the Week honoree since Thea Rice earned the honor on Feb. 16, 2022.
Dating back to the fall slate, Grigoreva has won five of her last six matches, surrendering just two sets during that stretch.
In doubles, Grigoreva went 1-1 paired with Carla Muro Castellvi. The duo clinched the doubles point for the Red Wolves in Friday’s 6-1 win over Missouri State, winning 6-2 over Billur Gonlusen and Tuana Gunal.
Grigoreva and Muro Castellvi are 4-2 overall on the year, 3-2 in dual matches.
