    San Diego:
In a heartwarming tribute to the enduring appeal of romantic melodies and the power of radio, Mayor Todd Gloria of San Diego has proclaimed June 21st as “Slow Jams Day®.” This special recognition marks the 30th anniversary of the beloved radio show, Sunday Night Slow Jams®, hosted by R Dub!

Not to be outdone, Mayor Regina Romero of Tucson, Arizona also dedicated June 21st as “Slow Jams®” Day for her city.

The journey of Sunday Night Slow Jams® began humbly in the summer of 1994 on a small A.M. radio station in Tucson, Arizona. Over the years, the show has grown exponentially, capturing the hearts of listeners worldwide. Today, R Dub!’s soothing selections and loving voice can be heard on over 240 radio stations across 17 countries, a testament to the universal appeal of Slow Jams®.

The official proclamation was a moment of shared nostalgia and passion for both Mayor Gloria and R Dub! Before presenting the honor, the two discussed their mutual love for radio and the timeless allure of slow jams. When R Dub! inquired about the Mayor’s favorite Slow Jams® artist, Mayor Gloria enthusiastically responded with “Anita Baker,” highlighting his appreciation for Baker’s one-of-a-kind voice.

R Dub! expressed his gratitude for the recognition, stating, “What an honor to receive this proclamation from Mayor Gloria and The City of San Diego. Let’s be clear, I don’t accept this as ‘my’ day, but rather ‘Slow Jams® Day’ is for all of us Slow Jam lovers, here in San Diego and around the world! Let’s Slow Jam®!”

For fans in San Diego, Sunday Night Slow Jams® continues to be a local favorite, airing on both Z90 and Magic 92.5 every Sunday night from 8 PM to 1 AM and six nights a week in Tucson, Arizona: Saturday through Thursday at 6PM on 97.5 The Vibe. The show’s consistent presence in the local and national radio landscape underscores its significance to the community and its role in bringing people together through the shared love of music.
