On this day in 1981, singer/ songwriter Robert Nesta “Bob” Marley died from skin cancer at 36 years old. Born on February 6th, 1945 in a village in Jamaica’s St. Ann Parish, Marley began his musical career as a member of the group The Wailers. After breaking away as a solo act, Marley went on to become one of the greatest reggae artists to have ever lived, having helped popularize the genre around the globe. In 1994, Bob Marley was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
