JONESBORO – Bethany Hines, producer of CNN Special Projects and alumna of Arkansas State University, will return to the campus as part of the Professional-In-Residence speaker series sponsored by the School of Media & Journalism.

Hines will speak to students and faculty at 10 a.m. Friday, April 22, in the auditorium of the A-State Museum, adjacent to the Dean B. Ellis Library.

Based in New York, Hines began her journalism career at KAIT-TV in Jonesboro. After joining CNN in 2012, she has worked on a variety of shows, including Morning Express with Robin Meade and Weekend Express. She also produced for past HLN programs including Dr. Drew On Call, Raising America with Kyra Philips, and HLN After Dark.

She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in communication and minored in radio-television at A-State. A children’s book author, she also is an adjunct professor for The City University of New York.

“We are excited to have Bethany Hines return to Jonesboro and share her vast journalism experience with the next generation of storytellers,” said Dr. Brad Rawlins, director of A-State’s School of Media and Journalism. “She has had a phenomenal career providing viewers with unique stories of people who have made meaningful contributions to society. These stories inspire listeners to find ways to impact their own communities. We look forward to hearing her own stories that will motivate aspiring journalists and storytellers to reach for the same heights.”

She also is the keynote speaker for the Arkansas Scholastic Press Association convention being held at the Red Wolf Convention Center in Jonesboro today and Friday.
