JONESBORO – Senior-level students acquiring their BFA in Graphic Design from Arkansas State University’s Department of Art + Design will showcase final work from their co-requisite classes, “Professional Practice in Design” and “Portfolio Capstone,” in the Senior Exhibition opening at the Bradbury Art Museum this evening.
Since 2011, senior design students have participated in a one-night-only event called “Branded” instead of showing the commercial work in a gallery space. This year is a new beginning, as all Bachelor of Fine Arts majors will be part of one exhibition, regardless of discipline, according to Nikki Arnell, associate professor of graphic design. More details, including Branded’s long history, can be found at www.brandedshow.com.
Arnell teaches these classes; however, she is adamant that the students’ impressive capstone work is evidence of the challenging curriculum and efforts by her fellow professors across all department areas.
Participating students are: Catherine Finne of Little Rock, Kara Fraine of Bay, Larkin Gardiner of Water Valley, Miss., Monica Gerges of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, Grace Hill of Conway, Morgan Hogsett of Willow Springs, Mo., Kai Langley of Hazelwood, Mo., Dakotah Martinez of Jonesboro, Linh Nhat Phan of Quang Binh, Vietnam, Madi Riddle of Jonesboro, Brittany Smith of Jonesboro, Faith Tatum of Southaven, Miss., Tamra Wackerly of Hot Springs, Rebekah Walker of Little Rock, and Gavin Cunningham of Jonesboro.
