According to parenting expert Dr. Tim Kimmel, it’s pushing them toward a “successful” future. Wait a minute, you say, what’s wrong with wanting my children to be successful? Well, it all depends upon how you define success. If it’s all about wealth, beauty, power and fame, you’re setting your kids up for an empty, self-centered existence. Instead, Kimmel says, teach your children the virtues and values of true greatness: humility, gratefulness, generosity and a servant’s heart. Teach them to be “others-centered” and they’ll experience a deep sense of satisfaction and purpose in life.
